Candice Burrell

Mrs. Candice Burrell is entering her third year as assistant principal at Patrick Henry High School. She has proudly served the students of Hanover County Public Schools since 2002. During this time, Mrs. Burrell served as a special education teacher and department chair at Atlee High School, a secondary extended school year (ESY) coordinator, and a special education teacher and student-centered instructional coach at Patrick Henry High School. She has participated in school and division-level committees related to enhancing school climate and culture, incorporating high-impact teaching practices, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all students.

Mrs. Burrell earned a bachelor of science degree with a concentration in interdisciplinary studies from Virginia Union University and a master of education degree with a concentration in educational leadership from James Madison University. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Eta Omega Chapter, and she serves as sergeant at arms for the Virginia Union University National Alumni Association.

Mrs. Burrell resides in Varina with her husband, Vincent, and her daughter, Callyr, who is a senior at Patrick Henry and her son, Omar.
