Mu Alpha Theta

Mu Alpha Theta Logo

Mu Alpha Theta is the national high school and two-year college mathematics honor society. This honor society provides a method for schools to recognize and encourage students who enjoy and excel in mathematics. It also rewards outstanding extracurricular achievement by offering special awards, scholarships, and grants to students.

The following criteria are needed to apply for membership in Mu Alpha Theta:

  • Currently in grades nine through twelve.
  • Completed Algebra I and Geometry, and in addition have completed or are enrolled in a still more advanced pre-IB, IB, AP, or ACA math course.
  • Maintained at least a B average in all mathematics courses.

The expectations for members of the club include:

  • Attending induction ceremony and club meetings during flex.
  • Pay membership dues of $15.
  • Participate in five hours per semester of math related activities such as math tutoring, club fundraising, attending math programs, and/or participating in math contests.
