Powderpuff Football

Powderpuff 2019 will take place on Monday, November 25 (rain date is on Monday, December 2). Student sign-ups will take place on Tuesday, October 15 through November 1. Students can pick up a permission slip outside of Mrs. Greenbaum's room 402, Mrs. Markwood's room 516, or the front office. Students can pay $15.00 by cash, check, or online and must register with a completed and signed permission slip and money to Mrs. Greenbaum in room 402. Practices will begin the week of October 21, and all girls playing football must have a mouthguard to participate. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Greenbaum or Mrs. Markwood.

PSAT

All 9th and 11th graders, along with those 10th graders who paid to participate (the deadline was on September 18), will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 (A Day). The PSAT is a timed test and will take approximately three hours to complete. Testing will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. and will conclude at noon. Unfortunately, students who are tardy or absent will not be able to participate.

Juniors received a student guide including two practice tests in their English class. We will share test locations the week prior to test day via Schoology and through English 9 and English 11 classes. Additionally, we will hang posters with test locations around the school on test day.

Students need to bring the following supplies on test day:

  • At least two #2 pencils (no mechanical)
  • A calculator - We will not provide calculators. The calculator is a tool and is not necessary to answer questions. Students may not share calculators during testing. Students may not use a calculator app on their phone. Please visit the Approved Calculators page for more information.

Taking the PSAT before the SAT test gives students the advantage of knowing the kinds of questions to expect and the thought processes that are required to answer these questions successfully. Many students who are thinking about going to college take the SAT late in their junior year or early in their senior year. Please visit the CollegeBoard website for additional information about the PSAT and SAT assessments.

For questions directly related to PSAT testing at Patrick Henry High School, please contact Mrs. Kelly Day, instructional assessment and analysis specialist, via email or by calling 804-365-8000.

2019 Education Expo

We invite you to join us as we host the 2019 Education Expo on October 16 at Hanover High School (HHS). Students and parents can learn more about some of the most exciting and innovative educational programs and pathways that are available. Each program will begin at 6:00 p.m. A free dinner will be available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

This event will feature the HHS Specialty Center, Advance College Academy, The Hanover Center for Trades and Technology, the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs offered at all high schools, the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School, and CodeRVA. While all are welcome, it will be especially helpful for students in 5th through 10th grades and their parents as they begin planning their educational futures.
