Face-to-Face Learning Quick Facts

As the start of the school year quickly approaches, we want to share some quick facts to help you better prepare. Please keep this information handy as you plan ahead. We are excited to see our students soon!

Health and Safety Reminders

- Check your student’s temperature and for any other signs of illness every morning.
- DO NOT send your student to school if they display any signs of illness.
- Masks are required at all times and should cover the nose and mouth, except when eating or drinking.
- Pack extra hand sanitizer and a spare mask.
- Remind your student(s) to maintain the greatest amount of social distancing possible and clean their hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

First Day of School

- Tuesday, September 8: ONLY Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Sixth, and Ninth grade students report.
- Wednesday, September 9: All face-to-face students report.

Start and End Times

Elementary Schools: 8:10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

- Arrival times will be staggered between 7:30 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. Each school will share specific details with you directly.
- Departure times will be staggered between 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. Each school will share specific details with you directly.

Middle and High Schools: 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

- Arrival times will be staggered between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. Each school will share specific details with you directly.
- Departure times will be staggered between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Each school will share specific details with you directly.

Bus Transportation

- Only families who have opted-in are permitted to use bus transportation.
- No bus routes will begin prior to 7 a.m. We will communicate specific routes and times soon.
- Masks are required at all times on buses and in buildings.
One child per seat (unless students live in the same household).

Student Drop-off and Pick-up

- Families who have not opted-in to bus service must transport their student(s) to and from school each day.
- Arrival and departure times will be staggered.
- Each school will provide specific instructions.
- Traffic will be heavy. Please adhere to your assigned times to help limit congestion.

Food Service

- Students will eat meals in their classroom, outside, or in large, open spaces.
- Staggered meal pick-up from the cafeteria and mobile food carts with touchless payment.

- Add funds to your student’s lunch account here.

Stay Connected

- Blackboard Connect – email, text, and phone notification system; receive important messages from your student’s school and the school division about events, closings, bus updates, and more.
- Schoology – view your student’s classes and assignments; receive teacher and school announcements. For Parents; For Students
- HCPS website – find up-to-date information on the division and the Return to Learn plan.
- Social media – stay informed about division announcements, events, and more. Facebook; Twitter; Instagram
- PowerSchool – view your student’s grades and attendance records.
- MySchoolBucks – add funds to your student’s lunch account.
- Online School Payments – pay students fees online (i.e. dues, parking, library, etc.).
